On today’s show we have Bryan Carney, journalist & director of web production at The Tyee. We discuss with him his recent article describing a newly unearthed surveillance programme titled Project Wide Awake which involves a more active role by the RCMP in monitoring social media.

We discuss how he came to find out about this new programme, the implications of it, whether or not some degree of surveillance has its place and the probability of a total lack of oversight of this programme (we really just don’t know).
